Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account on SmartLeh, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. The Service

SmartLeh is a platform connecting students seeking tutoring with tutors offering tutoring services in Singapore. We are not a tutoring service provider — we facilitate bookings between independent tutors and students. Tutors are not our employees.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Tutors must be at least 18 years old. Parents may create student accounts and book sessions for younger children.

4. Account responsibilities

You are responsible for all activity under your account.

5. Tutor verification

Tutors must submit verification documents (e.g., qualifications, NRIC). We review these to determine eligibility, but we do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any tutor's qualifications. Students should exercise their own judgment.

If the tutor cancels or declines: Student receives 100% refund, including the 3% card processing fee (which the platform absorbs).

If the tutor doesn't respond: booking auto-expires at session start time → student receives 100% refund (including card fee).

Tutor cancellation penalty: tutors who cancel 3 or more accepted bookings per month are charged 5–10% of the session fee, deducted from their payout. After 4 cancellations in a month, the account is flagged for review.

Refunds are processed via Stripe to the original payment method. Card refunds typically take 5–10 business days; PayNow refunds 1–3 business days.

8. User conduct

You agree not to: harass or abuse other users; use the platform for activities outside lawful tutoring; misrepresent your identity or qualifications; bypass payments by arranging sessions off-platform; reverse-engineer, scrape, or attack the service. Violations may result in account suspension or termination.

9. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of content you post (e.g., bio, reviews). You grant SmartLeh a non-exclusive license to display this content within the service. SmartLeh's branding, code, and design are our property.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" without warranties. We do not guarantee that tutors will always be available, that sessions will achieve specific learning outcomes, or that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Singapore law, SmartLeh's total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid to SmartLeh in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

12. Account deletion

You may delete your account anytime via the app. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data. We may suspend or delete your account at any time for violations of these Terms.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified via email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

14. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by Singapore law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Singapore courts.
